Description At present divorce cases are increasing, so is the divorce rate in Malang. In the case of divorce in Malang, the Malang Religious Court as an authorized institution to handle it was unable to prevent an increase in the number of divorces, whereas according to the General Explanation of the Marriage Law it was stated to maintain the purpose of marriage then divorce must be complicated. Based on the description above, then a problem can be formulated, namely the extent to which the Malang Religious Court applies the principle of making divorce more difficult, then How Effectiveness of the Principle application complicates the occurrence of divorce in reducing the high divorce in Malang City Religious Courts perspective the theory of legal effectiveness. This research is a field research (Field Research) combined with research (qualitative descriptive). The results of this study in general the application of the principle makes divorce difficult in the Malang Religious Court ineffective in preventing divorce.
