Description The interpretation of al-Qur'an textual-literal and ignoring revelation and interpretation context, the results of previous scholars' studies, especially in the fields of interpretation and fiqh which have been considered final, cause every new problem does not refer to al-Qur’an as a source of teachings Islam to explore meaning in accordance with the current social context. This condition is supported by the fact of social context in the XXIth century is different from the socio-historical context of muslim society when the al-Qur'an was revealed, it was necessary to reinterpret the Qur'an text according to the present context with methodologies and approaches could be scientifically accounted for. This article is intended to review fiqh tafsīr and ta’wīl offered by Abdulah Saeed using his a new approach that is contextualist approach, which noticed to the socio-historical context that they can be separated from the reluctance of legalistic-literalistic approaches has been dominated interpretation of tafsīr and fiqh. Fiqh tafsīr and ta’wīl offered by Abdullah Saeed, in fact, applied in four rigid steps, they are; encounter with the world of the text, critical analysis, meaning for the first recipients and meaning for the present. The Abdullah Saeed's aim is to look for justification of the al-Qur'an interpretation based on the socio-historical context in reinterpreting the Qur'anic tests according to the present social reality.
