Description Introduction: Triad of epidemiology plays a role in nosocomial infection. An infection occurs when there is an interaction between bacteria, as the most common agent of nosocomial infection, and the susceptible host (immunocompromised) in an environment which promotes the transmission of the agent to the host. There are several transmission pathways for the nosocomial infection to occur, and the hospital meal trolley is one of those.Method: This research uses the observational analytic study of quantitative research method. Samples were taken by swabbing an area of the handgrip and the door of a meal trolley at each room the trolley stopped by for a total 5 rooms on morning trolley rotation. All samples then were taken immediately to the lab for streaking. Streaking was done on 3 different solid mediums (Nutrient Agar, MacConkey, and Blood Agar). After that, samples were incubated for three days and then the observation and counting for the colonies grew on each plate started.Result: Staphylococcus aureus dominates the bacterial colonies found from all samples. No significant difference between the number of bacterial colonies on the first and last room. No significant correlation between the number of bacterial colonies in all medium with the number of rooms in morning trolley rotation. Conclusion: There is no correlation between the number of bacterial colonies on the handgrip of a meal trolley with the number of rooms in morning trolley rotation of a private hospital in Malang.
