Description Introduction: Hyperglycemic on diabetes melitus contribute to increase reactive oxygen species (ROS) contribute cardiomyopathy diabetic complication. Abelmoschus manihot (L.) Medik have been known as antioxidant effect and antihyperglycemia, it is expected to inhibit oxidative stress in DM. This research aimed to know about effect ethanol extract of red Abelmoschus manihot (L.) Medik on cardiac sod level and cardiac mda level in diabetic rat model. Method: This study used Sprague Dawley male rats 6 weeks old, which were divided into 2 control groups (normal control and diabetes mellitus control groups) and 3 treatment groups (Ethanol extract of Abelmoshus manihot (L.) Medik dose 200 mg/kgBB (P1), 400 mg/kgBB (P2) and 800 mg/kgBB (P3) groups) (n=5 rats). The rats were induced on a high-fat-fructose diet (HFFD) and STZ 25 mg/kgBB intraperitoneal multiple dose. Subsequently, ethanol extract of Abelmoshus manihot (L.) Medik were given. Cardiac SOD and MDA levels were measured by using ELISA SOD and MDA rat kit. Data analyzed by using One Way ANOVA analysis and LSD (p<0,05).Result : Ethanol extract of Abelmoshus manihot (L.) Medik 200 mg/kgBB, 400 mg/kgBB and 800 mg/kgBB increase cardiac SOD percentage approximately 20%, 35% dan 20% compared by diabetes mellitus control group (p<0,05) while the level of cardiac MDA decrease approximately 5%, 6%, dan 10% (p <0.05). The induction of HFFD and STZ in the diabetes mellitus control group cardiac SOD levels one and half higher and cardiac MDA levels twice as low than normal control group (p <0.05).Conclusion: According to the result above, Ethanol extract of Abelmoshus manihot (L.) Medik 200 mg/kgBB, 400 mg/kgBB dan 800 mg/kgBB can increase cardiac SOD levels and decrease cardiac MDA levels in diabetic rat model.Keywords: streptozotocin, high fat diet, high fructose diet, oxidative stress, diabetes, Abelmoschus manihot (L.)
