Introduction: Recently, cadmium exposure in the environment were increasing which causes toxic effects on the human body and living things around. Embryotoxic and teratogenic toxic effects caused by exposure to cadmium. This research proposed to know the effect of administration chronic CdCl2 on Danio rerio parental on the changes of embryo’s hatching time and the yolk sac area on Danio rerio’s larvae. The research hypothesis is that exposure to cadmium can cause hatching acceleration of embryo and expansion of the yolk sac area of the Danio rerio larvae.Methods: This research used laboratory experimental method in vivo with control group post-test only design. Danio rerio that was used juvenile phase 3 months old that was exposured on 30 days that was divided on 4 CdCl2 0,5 ppm, 1 ppm, 1,5 ppm dose group, and control. The segregation has been done on Danio rerio using microscope stereo 4,5x magnification and used software Image J for data analyzing. The data experimented statistically using software SPSS 16.0..Results: The administration of 1.5 ppm CdCl2 caused a hatching acceleration of Danio rerio embryos significantly by 40% compared to the control group. The administration of CdCl2 caused the expansion of the yolk sac area dose dependent, the higher the dose of CdCl2 which is exposed to the Danio rerio parental (F1), influence the greater impact of the yolk sac area expansion of the Danio rerio larvae (F2). The average yolk sac area ± SD in the treatment group CdCl2 0.5 ppm, 1 ppm, 1.5 ppm, and the control were approximately (3,66±0.236) mm, (4,622 ± 0.262) mm, (5,069 ± 0.370) mm, and (3,303 ± 0.302) mm. There were significant differences in the expansion of the yolk sac area of the Danio rerio larvae between the CdCl2 treatment groups.Conclusion: The administration of chronic CdCl2 on Danio rerio parental causing teratogenicity that indicated by hatching acceleration of embryo and embryotoxicity that indicated by expansion of the yolk sac area of Danio rerio’s larvae (P<0,05).Keywords: CdCl2, hatching time, area of the yolk sac, Danio rerio
