Description Introduction: The World Health Organization (WHO) shows 8.7% of patients treated in hospitals experience nosocomial infections. The highest frequency of nosocomial infections is obtained from hospitals in Southeast Asia and one of them is Indonesia which has a high prevalence of the incidence of nosocomial infections. Nutrition trolley is one of the factors that influence the occurrence of nosocomial infections. Therefore, this study aims to determine the relationship between the number of bacteria on the handle and handle of the nutrition trolley with the number of rooms visited by the trolley during the night rotation.Methods: This research uses in vitro laboratory research design with post-test only observational analytic. Samples were taken in one of Malang's private hospitals in August 2018. The number of samples taken with 3 repetitions on handle and door handle of nutritional trolley. The sample is inoculated on the nutrient agar medium, MacConkey agar, and blood agar then incubated for 24 hours.Result: There are no significant differences between the types of bacteria in the nutrient medium, MacConkey agar and blood agar. The number of bacteria on the trolley handgrip is more than in the trolley door handle but the difference is not significant. There is no correlation between the number of bacteria colonies and the number of rooms in the handle of a meal trolley.Conclusion: The number of meal trolley bacterial colonies is not related to the number of rooms visited by the meal trolley.
