ABSTRACTIntroduction: Excessive physical activity has an effect on increasing the heart work, thus causing oxidative stress condition. Previous studies suggested that physical stress can increase the levels of LDH, while others said the contrary. Therefore, this study was aimed to investigate the effect of the frequency of physical stress on levels of LDH and NMJ in female rats.Methods: Female Wistar rats aged 11 weeks were divided into 4 groups: Normal Control (KN, n = 5), and three physical stress frequencies (every day/KSH, every other day/KDH and twice a week/ KSK). Physical stress was given for 4 weeks in the form of swimming for 5 minutes. LDH levels were measured using spectrophotometry, NMJ levels measured using the method of manual calculation using a Trinocular microscope. Data were analyzed using One Way ANOVA to compare KN with treatment group with a significance value (p <0.05).Result: KSK group differed significantly with KDH and KSH group, but the group did not differ significantly with KN. KSH group differed significantly from the KDH, but not significant with KN. The mean results showed that the highest LDH levels were found in KDH group, followed by KSK, KN, and KSH. However, in number of NMJ, KSK, KDH, KSH group were significantly different from KN. The mean results showed that the highest amount of Neuromuscular Junction (NMJ) was found in KDH, followed by KN, KSH and KSK.Conclusion: The physical stress frequency in KDH increased LDH level and NMJ amount higher compared to KSK and KSH in female rats, especially with alternate frequency.Keywords: Frequency.
