Introduction: High-fat diet can induce hyperlipidemia, which is the main trigger for atherosclerosis and heart disease. The Bay Cedar (Guazuma ulmifolia) leaves, Orange Jessamine (Murraya paniculata) leaves, White Mulberry (Morus alba) leaves, and Mountain Ginger (Zingiber cassumunar) rhizomes (BOWM) have the antihyperlipidemic potential. The aim of this study was to prove the effect of BOWM water extract on collagen deposits and cardiac wall thickness in high fat diet fed rat.Methodology: Adult male Wistar rats, weighing between 150-200 g, were included in the study. They were randomly divided into five groups with five rats in each group. Modified High Fat Diet (MHFD) was given for 12 weeks to induce hyperlipidemia in all groups except group KN which was fed with normal chow. BOWM aqueous extract along with respective diets were given to the rats every days orally. Collagen deposit and cardiac wall thickness were observed by light miscroscope and were measured by image J.Result: MHFD increases collagen deposits insignificantly (p> 0.05), but increases cardiac wall thickness significantly (p <0.05). After administering BOWM water extract in KD1 (189 mg / 200 g), KD2 (378 mg / 200 g), and KD3 (756 mg / 200 g) there was no significant difference (p> 0.05) was found in the collagen deposit compared to positive controls. Cardiac wall thickness significantly (p <0.05) decreased by 26% in KD1, while KD2 and KD3 decreased insignificantly (p> 0.05) compared to positive controls.Conclusion: BOWM combination water extract has no effect on collagen deposits but can reduce the heart wall thickness of high-fat diet fed rat.
