Description Introduction: Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) is one of the most deadly disease. Early symptomps can be found in the injured blood vesels (atherosclerosis). Atherosclerosis is the wall thickening of blood vessels caused by buildup of Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL). Annona muricata Linn. is a herbs that has potential as an antioxidant with slight side effects. In the leaf has the most terpenoid content than the other parts. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of essensitial oil Annona muricata Linn. leaves subcronically to MDA levels of aortic tissue and average of aortic thickness from wistar rats.Method: In vivo laboratory experimental studies using posttest only control design with 20 male wistar rats and 20 female wistar rats devided into two large groups, four groups of male and four female. The male and female groups were given the same treatment, the normal group (KN), first treatment (essential oil dose 1.25 mg/kgBB), second treatment (essential oil dose 2.5 mg/kgBB), and third treatment (essential oil dose 5 mg/kgBB). This study was conducted for 28 days orally. MDA measurements use spectofometer, while the average of aortic thickness using a light microscope with 400x magnification. Data analys with One Way ANOVA test followed by Least Significant Difference (LSD) test. The results are significant when p<0.05.Result: Distribution of essential oil Annona muricata Linn. leaf to MDA levels in normal male group did not show significant difference to first treatment group, but normal males group was significantly different with second and third treatment group. In the normal female group showed a significant difference to third treatment group, but between treatment groups did not differ significantly. The result of average aortic wall thickness in all male and female groups showed no significant difference.Conculsion: An increased dose in the male group may decrease MDA levels, but not in female group. Increased doses in the male and female groups cannot increase the aortic wall thickness.
